Companies like Sears, Amazon, eBay, Esprit Clothing Company, Cabela’s, and hundreds more pay you money to market their products for them online. Every sale you make for them, they compensate you… usually with commissions ranging from 10% to 25%. Those are companies you can represent as an affiliate, through your affiliate marketing campaigns and running a Christian home business.
Credit Mapping Partnerships. City vision sets up credit mapping articulation agreements with ministries that have high quality ministry training that can be evaluated through our prior learning assessment process. We have credit mapping partnerships with Wheeler Mission, The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI), Third Millennium, Saylor Academy and YWAM’s University of the Nations that works in conjunction with our prior learning process. If you are with an organization that would like to set up a Credit Mapping Partnership, please contact us.
City Vision is very focused on providing extremely practical Christian education for those interested in Addiction Counseling and Nonprofit Management. City Vision offers fewer degrees than the mega-universities, but the degrees that we do, we do very well. We like to think of ourselves similar to the family-run hardware store where staff can answer all your questions with personalized service as opposed to the big box department stores like Walmart that offer everything.
There’s a comic strip that I shared a while back called “How to Over-Spiritualize Everything” that makes the same point you make in your comments. We can, I can, have a tendency to make things sound more spiritual than they really are; however, we are also guilty of not realizing the spiritual significance in things that surround us because we consider it too mundane for God to care about.
Selam Awassa Business Group focuses on the design and production of appropriate technology for the rural community. With the help of the research and development organization of the Ethiopian government, SABG stays abreast of developments in the technology sector. Beyond renewable energy products, SABG produces equipment for smallholder farmers and the construction industry.
City Vision offers what we believe is the most flexible, streamlined process to get prior learning experience credits of any online Christian university. We view City Vision as a Christian counterpart of secular schools that specialize in granting prior learning credit. We focus on this because we often teach leaders with decades of senior experience in the nonprofit and business world who operate at a practical experience level of someone with an MBA, but they do not have any degree.
Phil had a passion for serving clients and mentoring fellow colleagues. His long and illustrious career started at Coopers and Lybrand, LLP in 1978 where he became a partner and was on the U.S. board. He continued serving as partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP where he was on the U.S. and global boards. During his time there, he was the global leader of the Corporate Value Consulting practice which was acquired by Standard and Poor’s in 2001. Phil held the position of Executive Vice President and leader of S&P Corporate Value Consulting until he retired in 2004.
With respect, I think the article makes a simple concept more complex than it needs to be. But, I can understand, too, that — with the entire Christian community inundated with things like “The Purpose Driven Life” — there seems to exist some pressure today (that didn’t exist years ago) in making sure that every activity of one’s life has to be justified as “a way to glorify God”.
A private, nonprofit organization whose purpose is to connect business men and women of the western world with entrepreneurs of the developing world in order to help these entrepreneurs create and build sustaining businesses that will enable them to improve the standard of living in their communities, fund the work of their local churches, and raise the social impact of Christians in their country.
There have been over 100 lawsuits against the contraception coverage mandate in the Affordable Care Act, with a majority of them being filed by so-called “faith-based” businesses. In some cases, with religious educational institutions like Notre Dame, the affiliation makes sense. In others, such as Hobby Lobby, the designation becomes a little more tenuous. After all, does giving millions of dollars in profit to religious groups and organizations really mean that you yourself are a faith-based business? Or does it just mean you’re using your own specific belief system when you are trying to whittle down your profits in order to minimize your tax liability?
What you’ve written is atrocious. It is not found in the Bible anywhere. Instead of trying to make Jesus/the Bible relevant to today, you might focus on Biblical Truths. Christ came, lived a perfect life, taught the disciples, was killed as a sacrifice for the SINS of us all, Rose from death to live eternally – and will return to judge all humanity – not based on any entrepreneurship or how well we lived, but by our belief in Him as our Savior.

Crown College has designed its online Christian business degree program to prepare graduates to enter business with a concrete understanding of the fundamentals of accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing, while also providing the expertise to apply Christian faith into real-world decision-making. Graduates who have completed their online education at Crown College in Minnesota are employed, locally and internationally, in the following business sectors:
Brother Brad, your post is interesting and inspiring. I agree with you totally. I also hold it strong that every believer ought to do whatever we do, be it business, work or daily personal activities with this understanding that we are stewards of all that we are and will ever be and have; this implies that our entrepreneuring activities must bring glory to God, blessings to us and others around. It does not in any way undermine discipline and proper management of the resources entrusted to us. god bless you Sir.
A successful entrepreneur serves others, often at great risk, difficulty, and cost. Profits are a sign that the entrepreneur has successfully served others, but the profits only come after the endeavor. Along the way the entrepreneur may risk income, financial safety for himself and his family, his retirement, his home, and possibly the same of friends and family.
More and more Christians are thirsting for the opportunity to stay at home with their families, or even help out their spouse or family with a little extra cash in a tight economy, and one example of prospering from the Internet is for you to simply direct websurfers to websites and get anywhere from 10% to 80% of all sales you refer. We teach you how to drive thousands of websurfers to websites, no matter what “niche” you prefer, and no matter what type of Christian home business or Christian work from home approach you might want to take!
Below is a list of faith based Christian businesses many of whom are involved in helping to break poverty cycles or contribute directly to missions based organizations. This is not meant to be a complete list, but helpful for those interested. If you have or know of other faith based business groups that are helping to advance God's Kingdom, please contact us and we would be happy to add to the list.
The Kingdom of God is not of this world. It’s not one of the seven pillars. Religion is humanly established. It’s organized. It’s regulated. There are rituals or things that we manage from a human perspective, but God’s Kingdom, the Bible says, is within you. It’s invisible. It’s basically the rule and reign of Jesus. Wo everybody that says, “I follow Jesus” is part of the Kingdom of God.
The idea of a strict separation between sacred and secular is not a biblical one. Neither is the separation between “clergy” and “laity.” When you follow Jesus, you’re part of his kingdom in every realm of your life, so living out a Christian ethic and pursuing excellence and success in the marketplace by serving the needs of others and becoming generous is one way of positively impacting the world and drawing others to an understanding of God’s love for them. So let’s get past the stigma, break through our fears, and do this well!
The concept of HOUSE BLEND CAFE developed over the course of several years of dreaming of a creative way to connect with people and impact lives - 100% of net profits are used to love and serve people in the local community and around the world (feeding the homeless, funding services for women and children in need, home renovation projects and helping to restore neighborhoods, supporting other people who have a heart to serve, and starting other HOUSE BLEND CAFE’s in other communities).
From a Christian social justice perspective, many have called the distinction between regional and national accreditation a cartel that is a major injustice that hurts the poor. Having said that, there are those that still maintain this distinction, so we address their concerns in this section. This letter from Dr. Leah Matthews addresses some concerns about the quality of DEAC accreditation.
In previous posts, I laid the Biblical foundation for why I believe God does call us to our vocations. In January, I will be writing a series of posts that delve much deeper into this notion of calling and explore the various callings that Paul teaches us about in the Bible – including our vocational calling. I think it will bring more clarity to this topic, and I look forward to your thoughts and feedback on it.
Founder, Dr. R. Stanley Tam, made a promise to God that if God would prosper this business he would honor God in any way he could. God has consistently done His part and, with His help, we do ours to the best of our ability. Mr. Tam has placed 100% of the ownership of United States Plastic Corp. into a foundation whose purpose is to establish churches in third world countries.
So is that what it takes to be a “faith-based” organization now? In some ways, it appears that these businesses get the best of all worlds: an ability to proselytize to employees and inject their biblical worldview, but without the onus that true ministries have to actually improve the lot of the poor. Instead, they not only get to build their profit for their own comfort, but receive the benefit of tax write offs for giving parts of those profits to true faith-based organizations, who also then do not have to pay taxes because they are religious organizations and non-profits.
Grace & Heart is a direct sales company that markets themselves as “a community of friends founded on passion and purpose.” They sell faith-inspired sterling silver and genuine stone jewelry through their consultants, which are called “Bravehearts.” The jewelry pieces range from $29 to $200, so there is something for everyone and for every occasion. Not long ago I contacted Sunu about starting a home business. I had read her post on 50 Authentic Online Business Ideas That Actually Work} and was inspired to put my talents to use to help my family earn a second income. What was merely a dream in my heart quickly began to take shape, and by the end of the year it was a reality as I launched my website: Missional Call – a fellowship and resource center for missionaries. Sunu expertly walked me through each phase with precise and well thought out step-by-step instructions. It was obvious as we met online on a weekly basis, that she had prepared for each session ahead of time. She knew what she planned to bring to the table and her obvious talent for teaching made me feel confident that indeed I could do this! I know that you will not only find these modules helpful, you will come away with great confidence that you can put your talents to work for you and produce a quality, marketable product!
At each Close to My Heart Gathering they host, consultants have the potential to earn rewards credits and up to three 50% off items. You must sell $300 per quarter to remain active and you will receive a 22% base commission. Instead of having to wait to get paid by Close to My Heart, consultants just collect the money from the sale and then send the cost of the product to the company. As you sell more, you can receive higher commissions, up to 35% per month.
I highly respect those who subscribe to the school of thought that there should be nothing professional about Christian ministry. I understand where you’re coming from. I’ve read John Piper’s book, Brothers, We Are Not Professionals. It’s a great book. It reminds us that we’re not just here to analyze markets and produce numbers. I completely agree.
